MS20, OSCar, Jupiter 8, SH101, Prodigy…

These are names with pedigree, gravitas and a lot of history—and great music—behind them. All these famous synths have been loved for decades for their distinctive warmth and growly tones.

The main filters from each one of these synths are replicated in The Drop, all with Cytomic’s precision modelling. Released in 2012, The Drop gives you:

MS1 and MS2: Korg MS20 rev 1 (BJT SKF Sallen Key Filter) and rev2 (OTA SKF)

OSR: Oxford Synthesizer Co. OSCar (SVF State Variable Filter)

JRP: Roland Jupiter 8 / Juno 6 (IR3109 OTA Cascade)

SHR: Roland SH101 / SH-09 (IR3109 OTA Cascade) and

PRD: Moog Prodigy (BJT Ladder Cascade)

WSP: Wasp filter with full frequency range stable self oscillation modifications (CMOS SVF)

And, you also get:

SMP: Andy’s own filter creation, a custom filter half way between a Sallen Key and a SVF with an OTA filter core and strong resonance tone

AMU: a unique sounding transposed SVF as used in the Odyssey Mk1

KSM: a variation on the MS2 SKF but with stronger resonance

But now, with added Prophet!

In case you need a little something extra, we’ve added another classic filter to the lineup, one of the most sought after filters ever made:

PT1: Prophet 5 rev1 discrete OTA cascade filter

The PT1 filter—identical to the one released in our CF100 VCV Rack module—is a highly detailed analog model of the classic cascade filter found in the early Prophet synthesisers which used the SSM2040 filter chip. We also made a custom designed 4-pole high-pass version of the filter using the same filter core, and made sure each stage flips and clips the signal to make it as similar in operation to the low pass version as possible.

Cytomic has finished its third product, The Scream, a plugin emulation of the classic TS808 Tube Screamer by Ibanez, and Cytomic’s most detailed plugin yet.

The Scream covers all the classic sounds you’d expect from one of the world’s favourite guitar overdrive pedals, but also includes full editing of every parameter of the entire circuit, so you can not only cover all the most popular mods, but also push into new territory.

You can lower the drive high pass for use on bassier signals, or adjust the op-amp slew rate and output voltage clipping to add extra crunch to synths. You can use LEDs with non-linear diffusion capacitance for a smoother and more open drive sound, or even increase the power voltage and lower the dc-blocking filters to use for subtle bus warming. Then on top of that you can randomise everything, in stereo, so each and every track can have a different variation of the tone in seconds.

The Scream is a true chameleon, an electronic circuit turned into infinitely malleable clay through accurate, detailed, and efficient analog modelling that Cytomic always delivers.
